The usage of (deep-seated) geothermal energy has a multitude of advantages. In addition to the ecological advantages of a CO₂-neutral energy supply, the independence from fossil energy sources has to be emphasized in particular, as it offers price stability compared to conventional heat supply.

Which project alternatives are possible? Which configuration is the best for you?

Deep-seated geothermal energy can be used for district heating only as well as for pure power generation. Furthermore mixed forms are possible (combined heat and power plants), and also the use of thermal water in spas etc. is feasible. The utilization of low temperature thermal water for heating greenhouses needs to be evaluated especially for the particular project.

Economically power generation projects are promoted by the EEG in Germany (Renewable Energy Act). A fixed payment of 15 €-Cent per kWh (installed capacity < 5 MW) for 20 years allows for a secure investment and good returns. An additional heat sale depends on the location and facilitates further revenues.

Especially from a communal point of view it is advantageous to provide a sustainable heat supply, independent from fossil combustible, either as a municipal enterprise or in cooperation with a private investor (PPP-models).
