Thermal water cycle

  • Given that the two boreholes in Unterhaching were located about 3.5 km apart from each other, there was a need of connecting them by a special thermal water pipeline. This pipeline had a diameter of 350 mm and was optimally adapted to the transportation of thermal water.
  • Another innovation was the borehole pump for the extraction of thermal water. On the one hand there was a wide range of pumps for such a delivery and on the other hand there was also a wide range of pumps for such a high temperature, but the combination of both was a challenge for the engineers in Unterhaching. The pump was a custom product and was prefabricated in the US and the final assembly took place in the Netherlands.
