Power generation facility

  • In November 2005 the "Geothermie Unterhaching GmbH & Co. KG" and the "Siemens AG" signed the contract for the construction of the first KALINA-facility for power generation from geothermal energy in Germany - at this point in time there were only a few other KALINA-facilities operating in Europe, e.g. in Husavik, Iceland.
  • After finishing the preparation of the construction site for the KALINA-facility in mid June 2006 the groundwork could be finished at the beginning of November 2006. The topping-out ceremony took place on the 21th of November 2006.
  • A historical moment: The turbine of the first KALINA-plant in Germany was delivered and installed on the 18th of July 2007!
  • The cooling towers were completed on July 2007.
  • The first production of electricity could be realised on May 2008.
  • The test run could be started on April 2009.
  • The initial operation was done on June 2009.
  • The compensation rate for electricity fed into the grid was 230 €/MWh according to the German Renewable-Energy-Act. This amount was fixed and guaranteed by law for 20 years.
