- The overall technical and economic concept of the heat and power generation project was optimised in a fashion that allowed even the peak load of district heating could be provided by geothermal energy. Therefore the redundant heat plant will only be in use during maintenance or malfunction periods of the thermal water cycle, which was a significant element for an appealing and firm pricing concept.
- Rödl & Partner developed an innovative pricing concept for the selling of district heat in accordance with guidelines from the political committee.
- According to Gerlinde Kittl, CEO of “Geothermie Unterhaching GmbH & Co. KG”, the interest in provision with geothermal district heating was great. Four times more customers than primarily planned have had signed binding precontracts until March 2007.
- The test run of the heat supply was started on the 18th of June 2007. The heat was initially produced with heating oil.
- Due to the great demand the second construction phase of the district heating grid could be started on July 2007.
- The district heating was supplied with geothermal energy for the first time on the 4th of October 2007.
- It was possible to acquire customers with a connection capacity of about 30 MW of thermal power by the end of 2008.
