Start of drilling works:
The Mayor of Unterhaching Dr. Erwin Knapek gave the start signal to the geothermal future in Unterhaching on the 26th of January 2004.
Kick-off event of the beginning of the drilling works:
This event took place on the 18th of February 2004, in attendance of the Federal Minister for the Environment Jürgen Trittin and the representative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transportation, Infrastructure and Technology Bernhard Wiesner as well as the Mayor of Unterhaching Dr. Erwin Knapek.
Drilling exploration success:
On September 27, 2004, a historical breakthrough was achieved in Unterhaching: At 3,446 m below the surface, the drill hit thermal water of 122 °C and a delivery of 150 l/s. This result exceeded even the most optimistic expectations. Until this point in time there has been no other geothermal drilling in Germany constructed for such a delivery. Therefore the drilling concept and its outcomes have been of a innovative nature.
